William B. Robertson, 1872 - 1944
William B. Robertson was born February 28/29, 1872, in Cynthianna, Kentucky. He lived in the early 1900s, and most of his life, in Cincinnati, Ohio, just about 60 miles north of his birthplace. He was listed in the 1900 and the 1900 Federal Censuses as living with his first wife Louise Schmid Robertson at 1616 Knowlton Street, Cincinnati, and later in a City Directory of Cincinnati from 1915 at 4528 Hamilton Ave, both homes appear to have been replaced with later development. He was also an insurance agent and eventually moved to Chicago, Illinois where he died October 3, 1944. His ashes were placed in the Spring Grove Cemetery in Cincinnati, Ohio the first of January 1945 and graveside services were held June 28, 1945. According to listings online he appears to be a fairly prolific engraver, but had certainly been almost lost in time. This engraving is a fine example of his typical landscape work.
