Verla Birrell - 1903-2001

Birrell was a talented artist, writer, poet, and teacher. From Tacoma, Washington, she studied and taught at both BYU and the University of Utah, and studied at the Art Students League and Columbia in New York, USC and Claremont Graduate School, and the Chicago Academy of Fine Arts.  - from "Artists of Utah", Olpin, Seifrit, and Swanson, 1999.
