“Richard Gregersen was hired by the Deseret News in 1948 to join Jay Bywater and Dick Carter on that paper’s art staff. Gregersen retired in 1969.”

“Exhibit of art coming to Capitol - An art exhibit featuring the work of Richard V. Gregersen will be held in the Utah State Capitol Rotunda from June 7 through 11. The exhibit will consist of paintings, mainly watercolors, and drawings, depicting Euro- pean and American scenes. Mr. Gregersen has donated 100 of his paintings to the Behavior Modification Training Center and the exhibit at the Capitol is a benefit for the center. The paintings will be available for purchase.”

“Richard V. (Vilhelm Poulsen) Gregersen, died peacefully Wednesday, August 19, 1992 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Born December 12, 1902 in Esbjerg, Denmark, the youngest son of Captain Morten Gregersen and Ingeborg Marie Lorentsen. He married Gerda Johansen, only daughter of Lt. Col. Jacob Loeve-Christensen and Sorine Johansen; who died in 1931. He subsequently married Eva Mabel Giertsen, eldest daughter of Dr. Ragnvald Giertsen and Mathea Halvorsen; who died in 1986. Marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.One daughter, MaryAnn Gregersen Baumbacher, died in 1969. He is survived by two sons: Dr. O. Richard Gregersen and R. George Gregersen, both of Salt Lake City; seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He graduated from Kierkegaard's, a notable prep school in Aarhus, Denmark and was subsequently commisssioned a Kornet (Ensign) in the Royal Coast Artillery Regiment. He joined the LDS Church, in the late twenties and remained an active member until his death. Faithfully he served in many capacities. He served as Branch President in the Copenhagen, Denmark Branch, during the World War II years.”
