Michael Angelo Hayes, 1820-1877
Hayes was born in Waterford, Ireland to his artist father Edward, who instructed him in painting. Hayes was a well known member of the Royal Hibernian Society and exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1848. He was best know for his military subjects, such as the one we have on offer.
