James Pradier, 1790-1852
Pradier was one of the most famous sculptors of the 19th century. Born in Geneva, Switzerland in 1790 as his French Protestant family fled France, he was trained in Paris under artist such as Jean Auguste Domonique Ingres. He sculpted busts for several French monarchs and members of the French royal court. He was one of several sculptors who created parts of the Arc de Triomphe in Paris.
